I saw Dr Matthews and Destiny. They were both equally caring and understanding. I felt safe and unjudged

Suggested improvements
I felt the health care workers who took my vitals were a bit judgy. They asked me of I'd had any drink that morning I told them. No I don't really drink. And it was like they didn't believe me. It was weird

Review of Mental Health Urgent Care Department
28th November 2023

The nurse who assessed me made me cry, she basically told me it is my fault for not taking my sleeping tablets which I forgot about, I struggle with my memory, even more so right now since I barely know if I’m alive. Then left me alone to cry in a room for around 10 minutes. Made my suicidal thoughts worse and said to wait for day staff to assess me. I now feel like a burden despite being told to come here by NHS 111. I just wanted to feel safe and supported. Will wait and see day staff not feel horrific right now.

Suggested improvements
Validated my concerns and not blamed me. I waited quite a while just for her to say that.

I provided feedback on Monday 20/11/23 when I took my Daughter, after call to 111, but told by Dr Masud could not treat Katie as was registered in Cardiff (was in uni there but I brought her back as could not look after self due to feeling unsafe with mental health). At the time I was grateful of time and advice offered but subsequently daughter re registered drs in essex, local drs confirmed all registered, and this was what Dr Masud said to do if staying in Essex and then could be treated at Basildon urgent care unit. Katie was visited by community Mental health team Weds as wanted to kill family and self, due to voices in head. Katie did not feel safe and community team wrote up notes and called ambulance to take her to the unit. But not much known about it when paramedics arrived and Katie kept in ambulance for an hour till confirmed could go to Basildon. Then spent 2 days and nights sleeping on floor of waiting room as Dr not avlb and no beds avlb. In saying that, first night given a sofa in room as deemed flight risk. But second night Katie said she wanted to jump off multi storey car park and I am advised was told they couldn't stop her as was there involuntary. Her boyfriend managed to persuade her against it. Then saw Dr Masud Fri 24/11 and apparently he said nothing he could , he had already told her go back to Cardiff and had spoken with Cardiff who said she ok last time they spoke with her. Poor girl is scared and fearful and sadly has been left with no confidence of help. We are now left in limbo trying to get help for her. You get told to ask for help, or go to A and E or phone 111 buy sadly on this occasion a vulnerable young lady has been left to feel she is making it up and she purposely used her Essex address as fraud to get treatment. This is what we have been told but don't know how true this is. She was so distraught, scared and fearful for her safety and now does not know what will happen She is back in Essex as could not keep her self safe in Cardiff and we brought her home to support and care for her. Now, apparently, the advice is to go back to Cardiff, even though now not registered back in Cardiff. I am told this all at second hand but I know she is scared and feels no help, although I believe staff were good to her.

Suggested improvements
I accept costs and policies etc and that some people may not genuinely needing emergency help but on this case feel very let down and frustrated as not sure how to move forward and get Katie the help she desperately needs and is clearly asking for.
